INFO

Getting a tattoo is a personal and unique experience, and we want you to feel both safe and prepared for your consultation with us. Here's what you can expect.

When you arrive at the studio

For your safety and to protect both yours and our belongings, we always have a locked front door. When you arrive at the studio, please use the doorbell to let us know you have arrived.

To ensure a safe and hygienic environment, we have carefully designed hygiene procedures. Here are some of the measures we take:

Clothing and shoes: Upon arrival, we ask you to remove your jacket and shoes and change into the slippers that we provide.

Hand hygiene: Before we start the consultation, we will ask you to wash and disinfect your hands in the bathroom.

Belongings you want to bring into the studio: We will ask you to temporarily hand over your phone and other belongings you want to bring into the studio, so that we can disinfect them. We do this to minimize any contamination and ensure the safest and most hygienic environment possible.

CONSULTATION

What is a consultation?

Consultations are one of the most important parts of the tattooing process. This is where we get to know you to hear about your visions and your ideas. Then we also talk about design, placement, size and what is possible to do based on your skin type and body shape.

How does it work? First we listen to your ideas and if you have any reference images or other inspiration, you bring them with you. Then we discuss the details. We go through how the design can be adapted to fit you and your vision perfectly. We can also talk about different styles and what is technically possible. If it is a larger project that even the liver is on the back, we plan the session and make a rough time estimate. We have many people working for us and we make sure that the right tattoo artist takes care of you so that the result is the best possible based on your idea and budget.

Why is the consultation so important?

The consultation is important because we want you to feel completely safe and involved throughout the entire process. We create a personal experience where you feel seen and understood. It is your tattoo and we want you to love the end result.

What should you think about before your consultation? Think about what design you want and where on your body you would prefer to place the tattoo. If you have any references or inspiration images, bring them with you. Also consider your budget and whether you have any expectations for the price. You can also think about whether you have any specific wishes regarding the tattoo style and whether the tattoo has any meaningful meaning for you.

What will happen during the consultation?

During the consultation we will go over and discuss your idea and come up with a solid plan for what you want. We always value any references you have so we can get a better understanding of the tattoo idea!

Once the idea is understood we will then explain the process and how things work here at Moment Tattoo, giving you a recommendation on which artist best suits your tattoo idea.

Once the right artist has been found we will discuss your budget for this project and give you a price based on all of the above decisions.

With everything confirmed together we will find a time and date that works for both you and the chosen artist, here we will book you on the artist's calendar and you will receive a confirmation email for your booked sessions.

To confirm the tattoo we charge a booking fee, this payment is paid during the consultation and is there to secure your tattoo session, but also as security for the artist and the preparations they will take before your tattoo session. The amount you pay during your consultation will be deducted from your final price. If you cancel your tattoo session and do not reschedule, the deposit will not be refunded, as this money goes to the artist to pay for the time they have taken to design your tattoo idea prior to the session.

DESIGN IDEA

Do you have a tattoo idea that you would like to discuss with a tattoo artist?

Many people who want to get a tattoo have an idea, but they don't know how to proceed. Maybe you have a picture in your head, a sketch, or just a feeling of what you want. But you don't know exactly how it will look on the skin, or how to put it together.

We are happy to help you move forward by taking your ideas from thought to finished design. We do this by starting with a consultation. The consultation is completely free and non-binding. It is important to us that you feel safe and not pressured.

During the consultation, we will go through your idea together and help you come up with something that suits you, your body and your style. It usually looks like this:

Step 1. Describe your idea as best as possible, either in words or with the help of reference images.

Step 2. We discuss placement, size and details to get it exactly how you want it.

Step 3. We book an appointment for the actual tattoo session. We create the design the same day or a few days before the actual tattooing. By doing this, we ensure that you are part of the design process so that you are always completely satisfied with the end result.

THE TATTOO

Getting a tattoo is a personal and meaningful experience and we want you to feel safe and prepared for your visit with us. Here are some important things to keep in mind so that together we can create a positive and safe experience.

Design and Process

The Design: The tattoo you get is yours and should feel right to you. We work together to create the perfect design, and you always have the final say. If you have any concerns or requests about how the design should look, don't hesitate to let us know - we're happy to adjust until you're completely satisfied.

Body Design: Keep in mind that the design may look different on your body than on paper or on a screen (phone or iPad). We do our best to customize the design so that it fits you and your body as well as possible.

Time and Pricing: We charge for the actual working time, which includes preparation, design process, sizing, the tattoo itself, and aftercare and documentation. We go over the price and timeframe before we begin work.

During the tattoo session, hygiene and safety

We are meticulous about our hygiene routines and work hard to minimize the risks that occur when you are getting or have been tattooed. In order to ensure a safe environment, we ask that you follow our instructions carefully.

Do not touch the tattoo: During the tattooing process, do not scratch or touch the tattoo. If you accidentally touch the area or any disinfected surface, inform your tattoo artist immediately. Your hands and the tattoo will then be washed and disinfected to minimize the risk of infection or cross-contamination.

Breaks: During breaks, be careful not to bump or lean on the tattoo. If something does happen, inform your tattoo artist immediately so that we can take the necessary measures.

Toilet visits: Since you will have to pass through the part of the studio where we tattoo when you visit the toilet, it is important that you inform the staff when you need to use the toilet.

Food and Drink: Food is not allowed in the work area, but you are welcome to drink or eat snacks, sweets and fruit during breaks. Please ask your tattoo artist about where and when it is appropriate to do this.

Attire: Please wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing for your visit. We will provide slippers for you to change into when you arrive at the studio.

Unplanned breaks or discomfort: If you need to take a break or if you start to feel unwell, please let us know immediately so we can assist you.

AFTERCARE & REFER A FRIEND

Congratulations on your new tattoo!

To ensure that it heals properly and looks its best, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully.

The most important thing to remember is that you should do your best to avoid infection.

1. The first two days

– We have applied a special plastic to protect the tattoo. Leave this plastic in place for two days. The plastic helps create a sterile environment and allows the tattoo to begin to heal without interference.

– After two days, carefully remove the plastic while showering. The warm water will help the plastic to come off without damaging the skin or the tattoo.

2. After the plastic is removed

– Once the plastic has been removed, gently wash the area with lukewarm water and a mild, unscented soap. Always use clean hands and avoid scrubbing the tattoo.

– Let the tattoo air dry or gently pat it dry with a clean towel or paper towel.

– During the healing period (approximately 4 weeks), the tattoo should be washed morning and evening with lukewarm water and unscented soap. Also wash as needed if there is a risk that the tattoo has become dirty. Lightly touch and never rub!

3. Nighttime

– Sleep with clean clothes that protect the tattoo during the entire healing period, (not tight-fitting) as you can easily do unconscious things while sleeping, such as scratching or touching the tattoo which in turn can lead to infection.

– Before going to bed, you can apply more cream than usual as the clothes absorb some of the cream.

4. Applying ointment

– After the tattoo has dried, apply a thin layer of recommended tattoo ointment. This will help keep the skin moisturized and facilitate the healing process. Tattoo ointment is available for sale at the studio.

– Continue applying a thin layer of ointment 3-5 times a day for the next few weeks.

5. Signs of Infection

It is important to watch for the following signs, which may indicate an infection:

– Abnormal redness or swelling that spreads beyond the tattoo area.

– Purulent or yellowish fluid oozing from the tattoo.

– Increased pain or the area feeling warm to the touch several days after the tattoo.

– Foul-smelling discharge or a strong unpleasant odor.

If you experience any of these symptoms, contact us immediately and seek medical advice.

6. What to avoid

– Avoid sun and solarium: The tattoo should not be exposed to direct sunlight during the healing process (at least 4 weeks).

– No swimming: Avoid swimming in bathtubs, pools, lakes or the ocean during the healing period, at least 4 weeks. Short showers are preferable and avoid soaking the tattoo in water.

– Avoid touching or scratching the area: Crusts and scaling are normal, but let it fall off naturally to avoid scarring.

– After a week, you can perform light exercise that does not involve close contact (e.g. football, martial arts, etc.) You can perform harder/normal exercise when the tattoo is superficially healed, light exercise such as walking is fine after about a week as long as the tattoo does not rub against your clothes.

– Do not have pets sleeping with you in bed during the healing period

7. Long-term care

– Once the tattoo has healed on the surface (usually after 4-6 weeks), apply SPF 50+ sunscreen when exposed to sunlight to preserve the colors and protect the skin.

Keep in mind that it takes up to a year for the skin to fully recover, so take good care of your tattoo to keep it looking great for many years to come.

We want your new tattoo to look great and should it drop a line or something similar, we will be happy to fix it, this is free of charge for you provided you contact us about it within two months.

If you have any questions or concerns during the healing process, do not hesitate to contact us. We would rather you ask us than google and potentially get incorrect answers, we are here to help you!

FOLLOW-UP

With a new tattoo we always want to check on how the healing process has been going. So after 6 weeks from your tattoo session we always want to book a follow-up appointment to see the healed results.

One month after your appointment we will send you a text message to check on how it is going and ask you to come by for a follow-up session. The treatment itself should not take very long (max 30 minutes), but there are variables that can make the treatment possibly take longer:

If everything has healed well:

The tattoo has healed perfectly, which means you have been very careful to take care of it during the healing process, when we see this we can take some healed photos of the tattoo for a comparison photo, answer any questions you may have and then wish you a nice day until your next tattoo session.

If the tattoo has not healed perfectly:

This can happen for a number of reasons.

1. The tattoo may have become infected, interfering with the healing process and creating uneven healing.

2. The tattoo may not have been moisturized enough, causing the skin to become drier than usual, which has led to the ink bleeding.

3. The tattoo may have been exposed to too much sunlight, which can delay the healing process.

4. Depending on the style chosen (most commonly with fine lines), the ink may bleed a little due to the lack of ink in the skin.

5. Differences from person to person, this is also extremely common, everyone's skin heals differently, and also in different places on the skin, and of course the ink can sometimes bleed a little.

All of these potential causes are extremely common and nothing to worry about, we can never really predict how our bodies will handle the tattooing process, so don't be afraid!

If we notice that there is something falling out, we can fix the issues and fill in where there are healing inconsistencies. If both you and the artist are free after your follow-up visit, we can fix the small issues there and then. If the current time and day is not available to either of you or us, we will then schedule a small tattoo session for you to come in and then we can fill in the areas that are needed.

If you need to have another small fill-in session, we will then start the process over from the tattoo, which means we want you to come back when it has healed again to check on the progress to make sure that we, and more importantly, you! are extremely happy with the tattoo itself.
